I had a great time at the ASI Show in Chicago last week. I enjoyed meeting with some of our Newton Representatives and I was able to catch up with some old friends and colleagues. It was my first really opportunity to talk about my new position here at Newton and explain some of the things we are doing here.

One thing I took away from last week was the importance of participation. It’s one of the best ways to increase your visibility and build brand awareness. Being involved in community, trade, or industry events give you a chance to tell your story and allows others to experience the human side of your brand. This goes a long way to establishing your credibility and brand awareness. In today’s marketplace, people want to know the people they are doing or going to do business with. Volunteering in trade and community events increases your visibility.

Here at Newton we are continuing to find ways to get involved and be seen. Here are a few examples:

  • Attended the ASI awards show where Newton received our 2009 Top 40 distributor award
  • Our president, Lee Cochran, worked closely with other Iowa distributors to convince the Iowa legislature to remove promotional products from a statewide ban on gifts to doctors from pharmaceutical companies. (read article here)
  • Newton Manufacturing employees built a float and marched in Newton, Iowa’s 4th of July parade and the Jasper County 4-H/FFA Fair Parade

What are some of the things you are doing to be involved and increase your visibility?
