Employee recognition, appreciation, and incentives have proven to be effective in reducing turnover, improving job satisfaction, and increasing productivity. One obvious factor in the effectiveness of the program is the perceived value of the award. However, one part that is often ignored when rolling out a recognition program is the communication and ongoing visibility of the program to employees.

For the organization, this is just as valuable for success of the program as the award itself. Promotional products can provide this value and more for the organization. With the ability to leave a long-lasting impression, they have proven to be effective in generating goodwill and motivating target audiences to action. The same holds true when promotional items are used in internal “marketing” efforts.

Giving a useful and unique item will keep the program, reward, and goal top of mind. Include a promotional product when rolling out the program and your employees have a constant reminder through the duration of the recognition period. As employees are continually reminded of the goal, the will continue to engage in those behaviors that achieve the desired result. Using promotional products as periodic and unexpected reminders will energize employees to keep pushing towards the goal.

Promotional products also add value by generating goodwill towards your employees for your organization. Think about how you feel when someone gives you a gift. How about one you can use? You remember that feeling each time you see it or use it. The right promotional product has the same effect. The recipient remembers the experience and your logo on the product triggers positive feeling toward the company.

There are plenty of other reasons promotional products work well in conjunction with recognition programs. Please discuss them below.
