Newton Manufacturing donated over $2,600 to the American Cancer Society through their participation in the Jasper County Relay for Life. The company’s 10-person team, who walked laps in shifts during the event, spearheaded the fundraising efforts.
Employees were encouraged to donate during a series of events in the weeks leading up to the Relay including a 50/50 drawing, potluck lunch, silent auction, and penny war. The totals from these activities were added to individual employee fundraising done by Newton’s relay team and corporate donations.
“Our goal was to have fun to support a good cause,” said Karey Bown, who led Newton’s Relay for Life team. “Our employees responded with great participation and generous giving.”
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is a community celebration where groups of friends, families, neighbors and coworkers form teams to walk or run around a track, to raise spirits, awareness and funds to fight cancer through American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and patient & family services.
