In an effort to recognize donors as well as encourage others to donate, a blood bank developed awards for specific donor levels. #1 key tags were awarded to donors when they reached the 1-gallon mark. Not only did this recognize donors, but administrators hoped it would also motivate the donors to volunteer additional units of blood and achieve the next award level; 5-gallon award, a sports bottle, and 10-gallon award, a tote bag. Each award was imprinted with the blood centers logo and “I Saved a Life with Hudson Hospital Blood Center”.
