Part of our commitment to our clients is making sure the products that you purchase through us are safe and compliant with appropriate federal, state and international product safety laws.
Newton was one of the first distributors to require our suppliers to sign a Supplier Code of Conduct in order to continue doing business with us. This agreement verifies that products are fully tested and labeled as required by law and are produced in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
In addition to only using trusted suppliers, our representatives, along with our support staff receive ongoing training on compliancy issues. Product safety is constantly evolving and it is important to work with someone who is stays up-to-date on the latest regulations.
Why Product Safety is Important to You
One common misconception is that the previous party in the supply chain is responsible when a safety issue arises. The end buyer points to the sales person, the sales person to the distributor, etc. The reality is that all parties can be held liable – manufacturers, distributors, sales people and party that purchases and distributes them.
Compliance is a Team Effort
Always discuss your objectives for your products with your Newton Representative like:
- Who is the intended audience?
- How and where will the products be distributed?
- Could the item be distributed to children 12 years old or younger?
- Could the item or artwork appeal to children 12 years old or younger?
By answering questions like these, you will help your promotional consultant make sure that your products are in compliance with the appropriate regulations.
