Newton Manufacturing served up 300 “Walking Dogs” in 35 minutes during the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Thanks with Franks. At the annual event held in the downtown Newton, Iowa square, member businesses in the Newton area hand out free hot dog creations to the community to thank them for their support.

Newton Manufacturing’s hot dog was a take on the popular walking taco. The Walking Dog was a small bag of Doritos® filled with hot dog slices, chili, and cheese. For added flair, a “leash” was attached to the bag. For the leash, Fields Manufacturing donated a lanyard which was clasped to a paw shaped chip clip donated by Evans Manufacturing. The idea was develop by Newton Manufacturing’s 11 person team, who also assembled the Walking Dogs on site.

“We all had fun serving the community and saying thanks,” said Carla Kolpin, who led Newton Manufacturing’s Thanks with Franks team. “Judging by the line at our booth, the Walking Dog was a success.”
